Constitutional Chaos comes to ASU!

In honor of Constitution Day, The Young Americans for Liberty at ASU held "Constitutional Chaos" on campus this past Thursday. Along with handing out pocket Constitutions to students, the group also hosted Nick Dranias, Director of Constitutional Government at the Goldwater Institute, inside the MU. Dranias spoke on how the 10th Amendment (one of the many amendments that progressives routinely disregard) provides for a dual system of government (imagine that!). While the federal government is prohibited from exercising any powers not enumerated in the Constitution, the states are also prohibited from creating "dispersed fiefdoms of tyranny free from federal meddling," as evidenced by, for example, the 13th and 15th amendments. The audience found Dranias' talk both informative and vital for understanding not only the threats that exist to the federal constitution, but to the rights of citizens within their respective states. You can view clips of Dranias' talk on ASU YAL's blog.
